| Here is the seventh of nine successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. In the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6981, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Lima Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in August of 1955 after 29 years of faithful service. The road numbers of the other locomotives pictured here are not recorded. |
